Kensho Watanabe has served as Assistant Conductor of the Philadelphia Orchestra since the '16-17 Season.
Kensho made his subscription debut with The Philadelphia Orchestra in April 2017, stepping in last minute for Music Director Yannick Nézet-Séguin to much acclaim.
A graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music, Kensho studied with distinguished conducting pedagogue Otto-Werner Mueller. He also served as the inaugural Rita E. Hauser Conducting Fellow at Curtis, where he was mentored by Yannick Nézet-Séguin.
